Tell us about where you’re from, originally, and the house you grew up in.

"I am from Atlanta, GA and I grew up in a 1950’s ranch style red brick home. I will always remember the giant window in the living room looking out on a huge tree filled backyard."

What's your favorite room at home?

"My living room. It’s so sunny and cozy."

What one house museum would you recommend visiting?

"Villa Necchi Campiglio in Milan. It’s truly perfect."

Do you have a favourite Salter House garment? How do you wear it?

"Any and all skirts and nightgowns. They make me crave warm weather. I love wearing them simple with either flats or socks and loafers. Maybe even some cute little underwear to peek through, embracing the sheerness."

Have you repaired or restored anything recently? (We like maintenance.)

"I haven’t but I am about to resole some of my favorite Church’s loafers. They are such incredible quality and I want them to last for many more years to come."

How does your work affect your home / your wardrobe / the relationship to your belongings?

"I think because of the work I do, I am more inclined to make sure my home is a place that I can easily take photos in. The natural light is really crucial to me, not just for photos but for my mental health as well. I think in terms of wardrobe, I push myself to try out different things or reinvent the way I approach getting dressed to try and keep things exciting and fulfilling for me. Because I so kindly get things sent to me or given to me, I sometimes lose the full understanding of its value, compared to if I bought it myself. I have to remind myself how important it is to take care of the things I love in my space or wardrobe no matter how I got it."

For most of your career you've been in Atlanta, is there something about maintaining this distance from LA and NYC (and other fashion capitals) that you think has shifted the tone of your photography?

"I definitely think it has made me become more in-tune with my surroundings and constantly on the lookout for places that would be good to photograph at. I am more limited to certain go-to places but am always searching for new spots. Which I think is a nice way to keep discovering new places around the city I have always lived in. I like the present energy that it brings me and being aware of all the little compositions surrounding me. Having a distance from NY or LA can be nice to establish my own look or style of photographing my looks."

You've said in the past that your sister is your best photographer, the only one who knows how you like to be shot. How much do you attribute your aesthetic to the twin connection?

"I think I attribute a lot of the twin connection to my aesthetic but not in an obvious way. So much of my creative process has to do with talking things through, playing around, etc with my twin sister. She knows exactly when I have strayed too far one way or when I have struck a perfect balance in what I want to create. She’s a great compass and I know she will be honest with me in a way others won’t/don’t know how to."

Where do you find the boundary is between public and private? Are there parts of your life or spaces that are off limits?

"I think in terms of my space I don’t really consider public and private necessarily. Perhaps if I were to design a home and create a floorplan then I would think about how public and private are laid out. However, as far as people being in my space, I don’t consider anything off limits. When it comes to existing online, I do try to keep certain parts of my life more private, as I like to keep and cherish certain things just for myself or the people more intimately existing in my life."
