Sometimes accompanies Ben Kinmont’s ongoing project Sometimes a nicer sculpture is to be able to provide a living for your family, begun in 1998. Through an antiquarian bookselling practice specializing in food, wine, and domestic economy, Kinmont brings artistic work into the practical rhythms of earning a living and supporting a family.
The project asks where art takes place and how its value changes beyond the gallery. Kinmont locates the work in its contribution to everyday life, connecting bookselling, exchange, and the responsibilities of home.
